A Festive Fair of racing, shopping and holiday cheer
Race Coast’s Summer Festival of Racing continues to deliver exceptional race-day experiences with the highly anticipated Festive Fair featuring the Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas, set to take place on Saturday, 13 December, at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
The event promises a day packed with high-stakes racing, live entertainment and a festive Christmas market ideal for last-minute holiday shopping.
The Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas returns as the second Grade 1 race of the Cape’s summer season. GIMMIE RULES and JAN VAN GOYEN – both 3-year-old colts – are top contenders.
First run in 1924, the race boasts a great tradition and has been a rich source of champions with its honour roll studded with many of SA’s most famous horses. And if one goes by the Guineas’s 101-year storied history, it promises to be another hotly contested affair.
Festive fair, music and family fun
One of the highlights of the day is the Festive Fair Christmas market where visitors can explore a range of local vendors offering unique gifts, handmade crafts and holiday treats. It’s the perfect place to pick up those last-minute presents while enjoying the lively ambiance.
To keep the energy lively throughout the day, the event will showcase a stellar entertainment line-up. Heart FM will host its outside broadcast at the venue, while DJ Sophie, one of Cape Town’s youngest DJs at just 12 years old, DJ Vinny and popular singer Jarrad Ricketts will entertain the crowd.
The event also features a Kids’ Zone, a complimentary area where younger visitors can enjoy video games, inflatable obstacle courses and indulge in free slushies, candy floss and popcorn – making it a fun-filled day for the entire family.
Gates to the Festive Fair feat. Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas open at 11h00.
KKKA Voorsmakie
From 17h30, the venue will transform into a celebration of music, colour and culture, when gates open for KKKA (Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association) Voorsmakie spectators. The Voorsmakie Parade will kick off at 18h15, when more than 8 000 performers from 13 Klopse and three Atcha Troupes will show Klopse fans what they can look forward to at the Hollywoodbets Cape Town Street Parade on 5 January 2026.
