First safari property to combine modern African art with the fantastic creations of nature

Cresting a secluded hilltop of the Serengeti, the unique safari experience of Laba Grumeti Art Lodge highlighting art, nature, privacy and sustainability awaits, merging safari elegance with contemporary African artistry inspired by artist Zizipho Poswa.

The latest addition to the Laba Laba Collection, with the finest views across the magnificent Serengeti, offers an authentic safari experience of the Great Migration, with luxurious tented accommodation and all the signature luxuries that make Laba Laba an extraordinary wildlife adventure.

The newest addition to the Laba Laba collection – opening 15 July 2025 – had to be innovative and live up to the exceptional site, isolated on the top of a hill overlooking the expanse of the Serengeti, yet just 35 minutes from the Grumeti Airstrip.

Inspired by South African artist Zizipho Poswa’s work, which beautifully blends modern aesthetics with the traditional spirit of African, Laba Grumeti Art Lodge reimagines the safari experience through an artistic lens. The lodge showcases 46 pieces by 10 acclaimed African artists from South Africa, Kenya, Ivory Coast and Ethiopia.

Creating a unique sanctuary where art meets wilderness, the pioneering concept at Laba Grumeti Art Lodge marries contemporary African expression with the natural masterpiece of the Serengeti. There are 12 luxury tented suites decorated in natural hues and a spacious indoor and outdoor lounge and bar with unhindered views of the bush.

Laba Laba signature dishes from organic produce tantalise guests, served on the covered veranda or under the stars. Fitness facilities of a Technogym and infinity lap pool keep guests active, while the spa delivers a menu of wellness treatments for pure relaxation.

Choose from two safari activities each day, whether a 4×4 Safari Experience with private personal guide visiting a wide range of local landscapes and wildlife, or a Walking Safari to follow wild animal footprints, fully immersing in the surrounding nature. A private day-long game drive with picnic lunch takes guests deep into the bush, with a dedicated guide travelling in a mythical old Land Rover, rebuilt to bring a touch of vintage charm to safari.

Following in the careful footsteps of historic pioneers who made it possible to share the unforgettable experience of an African safari with the creation of national parks and game reserves at the end of the 19th century, Laba Laba offers guests effortless luxury in the modern concept of ‘slow safari’ at the lesser discovered nature reserves of Tanzania and its exclusive island retreat.

Laba Laba means butterfly in Yoruba, their role to increase biodiversity in the African landscape and fauna – treasured and safeguarded in each tailor-made safari experience.
