Tulela is situated in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, which is a protected wilderness and cherishes a low tourism density, offering a private and personalised wildlife experience. It is the largest reserve in the Greater Kruger Park, sharing unfenced boundaries with the Kruger National Park. Its landscape sustains strong populations of southern Africa’s most admired wildlife species, yet it offers only private safari experiences.
Tulela shares its private traverse of a sprawling 7 500 hectares with a handful of neighbouring lodges that enjoy the equal pleasure of Klaserie’s wilderness. This is Tulela’s immense playground for exploratory game drives and interpretive bush walks, exclusively for visiting guests. The main Tulela Safari Lodge is a fully catered lodge where guests can enjoy the luxury of a private chef whilst having the freedom to spend time on game drives or relax at the pool whilst overlooking the nearby waterhole as a wildlife amphitheatre.
The lodge can host 10 guests in five private luxurious en-suite bedrooms and has a spacious, central living area, which draws people together around the rim-flow swimming pool, fire pit, and experiential dining area.
As an exclusive offering to South Africans, Tulela also now offers a self-catering lodge, Mondzo, that is designed for local families and groups who love to spend time enjoying their own braai and self-catering options.
Mondzo offers the capacity to host 10 guests in four beautifully styled en-suite bedrooms with options to split groups between King/twin/bunk beds. The large deck with a fire pit and swimming pool will keep guests entertained from dusk till dawn whilst enjoying a luxurious home away from home feeling as they unwind on their own terms.
Tulela’s Star Deck is designed to elevate an experience in nature by stripping away the layers of four walls and placing you in a soft cocoon under the broad African sky. Here, guests are treated to sundowners and sleepouts while listening to the rumble of wildlife all around.
Under the large Jackal berry tree affectionately known as Big Jack, special picnics or bush breakfasts are served.
