Jock Safari Lodge is ideally positioned in the southern area of the Kruger National Park, resting at the confluence of two seasonal rivers, Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers. This 6,000-hectare exclusive concession is situated in the heart of wild Kruger, halfway between Skukuza and the Malelane Gate, a mere 40-minute drive in either direction. The wildlife within this unbroken landscape has survived undisturbed and is encouraged to thrive. The legendary experiences throughout this region of pristine bushveld offer guests an intensive safari in what is regarded as the best Big Five game-viewing area in the Kruger.
This luxurious reserve offers us glimpses of bygone days of the gold diggings of the Eastern Transvaal, where adventurers like Irish-born Sir Percy Fitzpatrick traversed the rugged Lowveld and escarpment en route to the beautiful African port of Delagoa Bay now known as Maputo in Mozambique. Sir Percy transported provisions by ox wagon from the coast to the gold-digging villages, assisted by his constant companion, Jock. Fitzpatrick outwitted crocodile-infested rivers, malaria-carrying mosquitoes, and man-eating lions while having to hunt for the pot, traversing and sleeping under immense African skies.
The luxury lodging compliments the rugged terrain paying homage to a rich culture and timeless elegance. Main Jock, emulates the timeless style and elegance of a classic safari lodge, with the addition of modern comforts and conveniences expected by today’s discerning traveler.
