Introducing Mont Eco, a new luxury private game reserve within the malaria-free Klein Karoo on the slopes of the majestic Langeberg mountain range – and one of the most unique game lodges in the Western Cape, being totally solar powered.
Located 25 kilometres outside the historic Karoo town of Montagu and a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Cape Town, Mont Eco is convenient for both day and overnight visitors.
The 6 500-hectare reserve falls within the Cape Floral Kingdom, encompassing three significant biomes: Nama Karoo, succulent Karoo and fynbos. Caring custodians have restored the reserve to pristine fynbos and succulent vegetation, and now boasts an impressive diversity of succulent plant species.
Wildlife that roamed these lands in the distant past have been returned and Mont Eco now offers a Big 5 safari experience.
Kingsley Lodge consists of seven intimate, spacious suites that can accommodate 14 guests, making the reserve a low-impact destination for the discerning nature lover.
Game drives, bush sunrises and cocktails at sunset are the order of the day, while wine tastings, swimming or relaxing in the breakaway room while away the hours in the heat of the day.
A well-stocked curio shop on site tempts the ardent shopper or art lover, and conscious travellers can plant a tree to offset their carbon footprint.
Day visitors can also benefit from the special packages that offer stargazing in this magical landscape.
