by Editor

Aardvark Safaris is offering a Trans-Serengeti Balloon Safari from 1 to 7 November 2023: a unique and immersive experience in the Serengeti region of Tanzania, beginning and ending in Arusha, a city located in the foothills of Mount Meru.

The itinerary includes four nights of fly-camping, giving guests the opportunity to sleep under the starry skies in specially designed star tents.

Each morning, you will be treated to a breathtaking hot-air balloon ride over the iconic Serengeti landscape. Soaring at an altitude of 2 000 feet, you will have panoramic views of the vast plains, teeming with wildlife. This exhilarating experience allows for incredible photo opportunities and a different perspective of Serengeti’s beauty.

After the balloon ride, you travel to a new wilderness location where you can explore on intrepid walking safaris and traditional wildlife drives. Accompanied by experienced and knowledgeable guides, you’ll have the chance to discover hidden corners of the Serengeti and encounter its diverse wildlife up close.

One of the highlights of this safari is the opportunity to participate in the anti-poaching conservation efforts of the Frankfurt Zoological Society. You’ll have a hands-on experience with the team, working to protect wildlife from poachers and other threats.

Beginning the safari in the Gol Kopjes area, known for its cheetah population, presents a unique chance to observe these magnificent big cats in their natural habitat.

This trip is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the simplicity and serenity of the traditional safari experience, letting you reconnect with nature and create lasting memories in the heart of the Serengeti.

Expedition Safari – camping in style

The Expedition Safari offers an authentic traditional camping experience in the Serengeti. The focus is on immersing oneself in nature, away from crowds, and under the expansive night sky, sleeping in specially designed fly camps that provide a unique and comfortable camping experience.

The accommodation is in cocoon star-tents, which allow you to sleep under the open sky while still providing protection from the elements with a fly sheet overhead. These tents offer a sense of connection with the natural surroundings, so you can fall asleep with the night sky above you.

The camp has ‘bush bathrooms’ in nearby canvas enclosures, with refreshing bucket showers and safari loos. Dining takes place around a campfire every night, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where you can share stories and experiences with fellow travellers.

One of the advantages of this trip is that by travelling by hot-air balloon, we can reach areas of the Serengeti that are typically untouched by other tourists, providing a sense of exclusivity and the opportunity to explore hidden corners of this remarkable landscape.
