About the authors

Luke Kemp is a keen herpetologist and photographer and has travelled extensively to photograph and document reptiles across southern Africa. He has an honours degree in Zoology from Rhodes University and is currently employed at the African Snakebite Institute where he presents a variety of snake-awareness and snake-handling courses.

Johan Marais, a leading reptile expert in Africa, is a conservationist, photographer and author of several books on reptiles, including the bestselling “A Complete Guide to the Snakes of Southern Africa”, also available in Afrikaans. Collectively, his books have sold over half a million copies. Johan is CEO of the African Snakebite Institute and advises hospitals and clinics throughout Africa on snakes and snakebites.
