An extraordinary food and wine experience

A chicken thigh on a bed of salads

Join renowned chef Luke Dale Roberts and acclaimed winemakers Chris and Andrea Mullineux – the pioneering duo behind the Mullineux Winery – for an exceptional evening celebrating their illustrious careers and the inspirations behind them. This rare culinary and vinous experience will take place at SALON, the latest addition to Dale Roberts’ collection of culinary destinations.

SALON: A new culinary gem

SALON offers an effortlessly stylish space, known for its sophisticated dining atmosphere and an intriguing collection of wines and cocktails.

Reflecting on his career, Dale Roberts says: “The ‘Dark Room’ experience was a highlight of The Test Kitchen for me, so I decided to recreate a similar concept here at SALON. With the Journey Menu, I’ve crafted signature dishes inspired by the countries I’ve worked in or travelled through, each dish highlighting a region’s culinary heritage. I want this menu to be focused and interactive, taking guests on a journey that reflects my evolution and influences as a chef.”

A collaboration of excellence

Chris and Andrea Mullineux are widely regarded as a leading South African wine-growing and winemaking team. Their innovative approach, coupled with a profound respect for the land and a dedication to fine wine, has earned them numerous local and international accolades including being named five-time South African Winery of The Year.

Their 20-year journey in the wine industry has seen them visit and work at many of the world’s great wineries and wine regions, and they have applied the insights and lessons learnt to the ancient soils and unique terroir of the Swartland for the coveted Mullineux wines they produce.

For the past decade, Chris and Andrea have been transforming their home vineyard, Roundstone, into a certified regenerative organic farm. At Roundstone, they cultivate a variety of grapevines including Chenin Blanc and Syrah alongside Macabeo, Verdelho, Vermentino, Assyrtiko, Grenache and Lledoner Pelud. Their commitment to farming in harmony with nature – using diverse cover crops, mulches, fynbos corridors and Nguni cattle – allows these grape varieties to flourish and produce complex, balanced fruit in the dry, sunny Swartland.

A rare tasting experience

Chris and Andrea will pair some extremely rare wines, including two first-release cuvées from their home vineyard Roundstone – never before tasted by the public – with the adventurous fine cuisine of chef Luke Dale Roberts.

“We can’t wait to share an evening with chef Luke, to present the dishes and wines that are close to us as we reflect on what has inspired our careers while also celebrating the future,” says Andrea.
