The Northern Cape has a warm and dry climate, with the most favourable wine-cultivating conditions along the Orange River. Winemaking in the Northern Cape started from around the 1940s, which is relatively late when compared with other areas in South Africa.<\/p>\n
Located just off the banks of the Orange River, the Bezalel Wine & Brandy Estate<\/a> is a mere turn from the N14. This award-winning estate is home to a boutique wine cellar and an artisan distillery. Bezalel creates its own merlot, cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and chardonnay, as well as several other varietals. The estate branched off into distilling brandy and has picked up several awards for its products.<\/p>\n A popular wedding and conference venue, the wine farm also has an on-site restaurant and cafe.
