South Africans urged to vote as Table Mountain competes for Africa’s top tourism title
Table Mountain has once again been nominated as Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the prestigious World Travel Awards, with South Africans now being called on to help secure the title.
Widely regarded as the travel industry’s equivalent of the Oscars, the World Travel Awards recognise excellence across global tourism and hospitality.
Table Mountain, recognised as one of the New7Wonders of Nature, has a strong track record at the awards, having claimed the title of Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction five times: in 2014, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
With the destination once again in the running, supporters are encouraged to cast their vote and help showcase Cape Town on the global stage.
“This nomination is a proud moment for Cape Town and South Africa as a whole,” says Wahida Parker, managing director at the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company. “Table Mountain is more than a landmark; it’s a symbol of our natural heritage and a world-class attraction that continues to inspire visitors from across the globe. Every vote is an opportunity to show the world what this destination means to us.”
The awards are decided by public vote, making local and international support a key factor in determining the winners.
To vote, supporters can register on the WTA website to vote, select the Africa region and choose Table Mountain as Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction. Voting for the 2026 awards will run until 17 July 2026.
As global competition continues to grow, the nomination presents an opportunity for South Africans to rally behind one of the country’s most recognisable icons and reinforce its position as a must-visit destination.
